(Preface: I don't know what is going on with the formatting in this post...please forgive the huge spaces between the paragraphs that I don't know how to fix. :/ I'm rather irked about that.)
It has been almost ten years since my family moved to the area where I now live, and it has been almost as much time that I have known Micah, who is one of my best friends ever. We used to work at the same coffeehouse, and people there nicknamed us "The Twins", saying that where one of us went, the other usually followed. For today's post, she has graciously agreed to tell us about her style for one of her own Christmas season's events.
Without further ado, I shall hand the narrative over to her. :D

Merry Christmas!
For this guest post, I decided to create an outfit for an office Christmas party. I work for a government agency that generally dresses "business casual" on a day-to-day basis, with similar attire for the annual Christmas party. My first instinct was to use all diamond accessories...however, I realized that this might be too formal for our semi-casual party. I instead went with gold accents--and a little bit of diamonds, because I couldn't resist! I came up with a Christmas ornament kind of look: festive, elegant, and always stylish. Here is a breakdown of my Polyvore template, along with the pieces that I used to replicate this look in real life.
The dress: I actually own the dress that I used on this template. It's from Express!
(Note from Cait: And I've seen that dress--the striped version of it that Micah owns--showcased in Lucky magazine, InStyle magazine, and People magazine's StyleWatch. Talk about a great purchase!)
The shoes: On Polyvore, they're from H&M. Mine are by Steve Madden, bought for my maid-of-honor ensemble for Cait's wedding to Mr. Darcy!
The earrings: On Polyvore they're from Neiman Marcus. Mine are from Francesca's Boutique, which is much cheaper. I chose these earrings because they look sort of like ornaments, going along with my inspiration.
The bracelet: On Polyvore, it's from 1stdibs.com. My bracelet is from a spectacular Indian festival that is held every year at the university that Cait attended. You can find similar bracelets at any department store, Claire's, or the Icing.
The perfume: Coco Chanel's Mademoiselle is my signature scent! I've worn it for years, and even though I enjoy switching things up every now and then, I always go back to it. It's a classic!
The makeup: I used a combination of the Lancôme and Sephora brands, but mostly Lancôme. It's my favorite makeup! I chose to do a red lipstick--in a different shade than that of my dress--with a dab of gloss in the center to give my lips a fuller, moist look. To balance with the vibrant shade of the lipstick, my eye makeup was more understated in neutral and gold tones, with liquid eyeliner on my top lash line, and LOTS of mascara.
The bag: The clutch in the Polyvore set is from Valextra, but mine isn't. I don't remember where I bought my clutch purse, but it has served me well for years! You can find clutches similar to this at Target.
And that's it! With an outfit composed of chic accessories and simple pieces in eye-catching holiday colors and textures, you can easily be ready for a glamorous and yet versatile night out! Enjoy your party!
Micah's hair, complexion, and eye color remind me a lot of Anne Hathaway--so it seems really fitting that she's somewhat channeled Ms. Hathaway's classic style in this outfit. It has a fun, retro-glam look to it, but at the same time it's sophisticated, and it's also essentially Micah. Anyone who knows her is well aware of the fact that she loves anything with sparkle to it, she is the consummate ballet-flats-wearer, she has more lipsticks in her arsenal than I have in my own collection--and that's saying something!--, she wears her Coco Chanel Mademoiselle perfume devotedly, and she loves little whimsical accents in her jewelry.
It is so fun to see my friends' styles and take note of how their personalities shine through in the things that they choose to wear. Of course, the clothes don't wear them--they wear the clothes. An outfit that you really love, that you really feel the most you in, is a great thing to have in your closet, for the holidays and the rest of the year.
Now, speaking of the holidays...I have a ton of Christmas-related errands to run today, and I also have an apartment that needs to be cleaned and packed up, because Mr. Darcy and I will be moving soon! Look for more guest posts in the future...I have more stylish and creative people to whom I would like to introduce you. :D
À bientôt!
Cait
